It is particularly well suited for operational profiles which call for slow charge and discharge rates; however, it can provide high charge and discharge for short durations when needed. It is ideal for applications which require the ability to sail emission-free over longer periods of time, including during emission-free port stays, at a cost-effective kWh price.

Blue Whale was developed with large marine energy storage installations in mind, specifically battery systems that require more than 10MWh total system energy. Optimization for energy density enables Blue Whale to deliver more power. This in turn extends the vessel’s ability to maintain zero-emission operations, including during transit through emissions-restricted zones and zero-emission port stays.
