Compliance Engineer

Position Summary

We have an exciting new established position as Compliance Engineer placed in our Bergen office and main battery plant. As Compliance Engineer you will be working closely with our Sustain Engineering Team and interact with colleagues within Compliance and Project Department in both Bergen, Porsgrunn and Vancouver. The Compliance Engineer will be responsible for ongoing certification and compliance of Corvus’ energy storage solutions, development of product requirements based on both class rules and local markets, and communication with multiple marine class societies.

Main tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist and take lead on product compliance process (including marine type approvals, UL, CSA certification, EU Directives (ex. EMC, Battery Directive, RoHS, LVD, etc).
  • Communicate product changes with class/regulatory groups.
  • Stay current with various regulatory and safety standards.
  • Maintain test and certification records and organize the class submission documents for product type approval.
  • Advise on environmental, mechanical, and electrical requirements for new products.
  • Work closely with the system test engineering team to ensure tests and reports will meet the needs of compliance.
  • Develop product requirements based on class and regulatory rules.

Work experience and Qualifications

  • 3+ experience working closely with DNV and/or other class societies, or experience from working in DNV, NMA, Shipyard or fleet operator
  • Formal education as Technician or Engineer within Marine or a related discipline
  • Experience in the maritime sector and in marine compliance required
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong drive to solve problems alongside other team members and to connect people together
  • Norwegian and English fluency
