MF Hjellestad is the world's first single hull commuter ferry built in aluminum - taking up the legacy of the historic innovation "MF Ampere". The low weight places less demands on energy consumtion and makes the ferry able to sail zero emission with less batteries onboard. The ferry will be sailing on a short sailing route to and from an island ouside of Bergen and will be able to bring 16 cars or two 52-ton trucks. The ferry has the latest in energy efficiency and battery technology onboard in addition to biodiesel as supplement.
