Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel, Boreas, is purpose-built for the transport and installation of next generation foundations and turbines at offshore wind farms. Set for commercial delivery in 2025, upon completion the Boreas will be the largest vessel of its kind. The newbuild hybrid vessel features an innovative, dual fuel engine able to run on methanol and a marine battery system from Corvus Energy. The battery pack will be used for peak loads and to regenerate energy, contributing to reduced fuel consumption and emissions.
