Our factory in Richmond requires a Purchasing Manager to lead a high-performance team with identifying, qualifying, selecting, coordinating and managing global vendors who help supply and manufacture our components and products. This individual will have responsibility for establishing and managing the business relationship with a wide range of Vendors and Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners. Establishing and closely monitoring performance metrics with our partners will be a primary target as well as working to continuously improve the quality, delivery, cost and lead-time of Corvus products. The Purchasing Manager must ensure supply is synchronized with demand and supports production.

  • Learn the complete product from design, production, testing, and the supply chain that supports the product.
  • Drive cross-functional process involving Hardware Engineering and Technical Operations to evaluate and select future partners as business conditions dictate.
  • Manage ongoing business relationships and facilitate open communication through ongoing team meetings, action item lists, performance reporting, etc.
  • Drive Total Cost Reduction program to ensure the lowest possible total cost, including: product cost, transportation cost, inventory cost and cost of quality.
  • Work with planning to translate the demand forecast into a monthly Master Production Schedule (MPS) and 12 month rolling forecast.
  • Create, update and manage purchase orders using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of purchase orders and resolve any shipment or invoice discrepancies
  • Drive capacity planning processes to ensure adequate lead time to add capacity, resources, equipment and tooling as required by demand forecasts.
  • Monitor day-to-day tactical activities to ensure partners are successful in meeting quality, delivery, cost and lead-time commitments.
  • Drive flexibility improvements and cycle time reduction programs to increase responsiveness to demand changes.
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with management.
  • Manage drawings, documents and actions through a change log.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Mandatory 5+ years of experience in electrical/mechanical, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience dealing with international vendor partners and/or contract manufacturers
  • Experience establishing and managing contracts and MSA’s.
  • Experience with ISO auditing and QMS evaluation.
  • Computer literate with MS Office Suite – Excel wizardry is a core requirement. This competency will be tested.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems – specifically NetSuite – designing an MRP from scratch in Excel will be tested.
  • Experience in supplier evaluation/selection, contract negotiation and supply base management.
  • Program management and cross-functional teamwork experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude for electro-mechanical parts and assemblies.


  • Supply Chain and/or Logistics certification (SCMP, PMAC, CPIM, APICS)
  • Highly organized, calm and detail oriented are characteristics that you exemplify.
  • High Bandwidth – able to handle multiple changing priorities on a regular basis.
  • Ability to think strategically, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Demonstrated experience building & leading a high performing team.

  • International travel will be required in this position.
