The Edda Ferd is a platform supply vessel used to support oil rig operations in the North Sea. A new build, the Østensjø Edda Ferd has been designed with a focus on quality, safety and efficiency. This is the first integration of a Corvus Energy ESS and Siemens’ BlueDrive PlusC propulsion system.

The integration of Corvus lithium ion battery technologies with Siemens Blue Drive is providing revolutionary operational efficiencies to marine propulsion systems. The energy management system of the Edda Ferd will dynamically set engine loads to real time optimal operation levels with active battery assist. During Dynamic Positioning (DP) operation the advantages are substantial as the Corvus Energy Storage System absorbs load fluctuation, allowing the diesel generators to operate more efficiently.

Østensjø Rederi was at the annual Offshores Support Journal Awards 2013 and awarded the prestigious Environmental Award for its new build, the PSV Edda Ferd.
