New Career Opportunity: Strategic Sourcing Specialist (6 month contract) [Richmond, BC, Canada]

Position Summary :

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist will lead procurement and contract management processes for the company. The successful incumbent will be responsible for sourcing activities of long-lead components and manufacturing outsourcing opportunities.

The successful incumbent will possess a high degree of knowledge and experience with electro-mechanical parts, assembly and testing.

Responsibilities will include procurement strategies and contract management strategies, negotiations, analyzing procurement activities, training and recommending improvements to existing processes. Additionally, this position manages the contract execution process, resolving problems, mitigating delays, assisting with audits, mediating disputes and escalating issues.

Responsibilities:

  1. Based on direction from the Director of Operations and the AVL, the Specialist will target specific components for cost reduction, secondary sourcing, and manufacturing outsourcing opportunities.
  2. Foster strategic partnerships with vendors, creating communication channels for critical information and ensuring the projects meet established deadlines.
  3. Develop contracts that allow for varied production output, cost certainty, and clear communication on all details.
  4. Analyze bid responses to evaluate the total cost of ownership, that the product or service are fit for purpose and that the associated terms and conditions optimize the total cost of ownership for Corvus. Be responsible for ensuring that pricing is competitive by having multiple bids and knowing the market conditions.
  5. Manage strategic vendors with respect to performance versus schedule, pricing and quality. Deliver feedback to all stakeholders based on these KPI’s.
  6. Identify and direct vendors on best logistics methods to meet all demand by Corvus manufacturing sites.
  7. Lead, where required, the negotiation of agreements, including the development of negotiation strategies and any changes in vendor contracts in accordance with policies and regulations.
  8. Communicate business issues and requirements to vendors and to Corvus engineering.
  9. Support product development and commercialization.
  10. Provide input into the design and development of new and revised department-specific policies and procedures.
  11. Report on lessons learned to the Director.
  12. Participate in a tax efficient supply chain management.

Contract Management

  1. Apply negotiation skills to resolve vendor disputes and decide appropriate resolution to problems that may arise during the contracting processes by mediating disputes between Corvus and the vendor(s)/contractor(s).
  2. Establish systems to Monitor and track vendor performance through balanced scorecard/dashboard, including periodic financial reviews, product performance, Stakeholder satisfaction surveys, and customer feedback.
  3. Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation on all solicitations, responses, purchases, contracts, correspondence and related follow up for furtherance to other Supply Management staff for on-going management

Requirements:

  1. 5+ years of experience in electrical/mechanical manufacturing environment.
  2. Excellent written and verbal English skills.

  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

New Career Opportunity: Electrical Engineer [Richmond, BC, Canada]

Position Summary :

This is an opportunity to exercise your creativity and ingenuity. Your primary role will be to work with the electronics and firmware teams to design the mixed signal sensory and microprocessor-based battery management systems. This is a full time, permanent position reporting to the Lead Electrical Engineer.

Responsibilities:

Work with systems engineers and team leads to architect battery management systems

  • Design both digital and analog electronic circuits for various Corvus Battery Management System components including schematic capture, board layout and build files
  • Verification of new circuit board designs, including trouble shooting and rework, build and test prototype systems, develop verification plans, and document results
  • Design the electrical interfaces of the battery packs to external equipment; ensure the designs comply with all relevant electrical codes and standards
  • Participate in DFMEAs on the battery system designs
  • Work with mechanical and software design teams to fulfill design functional and packaging requirements
  • Identify preferred components & vendors, prepare requisitions for supply chain department
  • Support engineers in the field with troubleshooting advise and background analysis
  • Occasional travel to customer sites (2 times per year) to discuss technical aspect of products and/or support commissioning or service activities
  • Comply with Corvus procedures for configuration management and product data management (engineering change orders, revision management, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree (BASc or MASc) with 8+ years relevant experience
  • Experience with electronic design, schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer
  • Hands on experience building and reworking circuit boards, both through hole and surface mount (prototype-quality only)
  • Strong relationship/interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • SPICE simulation experience is an asset

Position Summary :

This is an exciting opportunity to develop new products and to extend our Orca product line. You will work with an expert team of mechanical, electrical, and test engineers on challenging and creative new mechanical assemblies.  This is a full-time 6-month contract engineering position reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design of large format lithium ion battery systems, including enclosures, cooling systems, racking and all other mechanical aspects of battery systems
  • Prepare for and participate in design reviews for mechanical parts and assemblies
  • Participate in DFMEA activities
  • Identify critical parts, critical dimensions, and conduct detailed drawing reviews to identify inspection points for vendors

Position Summary :

This is an exciting opportunity to demonstrate your expertise by solving some very challenging problems relating to electro-magnetic noise. You will work with an expert team of electrical, test, and mechanical engineers and technicians to design the most robust electronic systems in the industry.  This is a 6-month full-time contract reporting to the VP of Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Resolve issues with sensors and electronic assemblies relating to EMI and electrical noise
  • Specify test and measurement equipment to conduct field and laboratory investigations
  • Develop test plans and diagnostic methods directed at specific issues, and execute the tests and analyze the results
