Mechanical Engineer – Contract

New Career Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer – Contract [Richmond, BC, Canada]

Position Summary: 

Corvus Energy sources battery cells from world leading battery manufacturers and integrates these cells into their products. The Mechanical Engineering team develops the structure to package these cells into “Battery Modules”, which are used to build “Battery Packs”.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with other engineering disciplines including Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Test Engineering, as well as working with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project Management
  • Communicate with vendors to develop manufacturable designs
  • Develop 3D models for product designs and produce drawings for fabrication
  • Build prototypes, test jigs, and fixtures
  • Provide design services for new and upcoming products
  • Mechanical design optimization and design-for-manufacture of existing products
  • Prepare change orders and BOMs for release to manufacturing
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelors or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience in a product development/manufacturing company
  • Proficient at SolidWorks and 3D CAD Software
  • Experienced designing, setting up, and running tests to develop understanding or validation of designs
  • Hands-on experience building prototypes, test jigs, and fixtures
  • Experience with engineering practices such as Change Orders and Document Control
  • Design experience in some of these areas: Sheet metal, molded or cast parts, extrusions, brazed assemblies, machined parts
  • Experience in some of the following would be an asset: FEA analysis, DFMEA’s, or volume manufacturing 

This is a 6-month position.
